Sangam literature can be described as a treasure trove of Tamil societal life. Through these literary works, we can understand the lifestyle, art, culture, traditions, and values of the ancient Tamils. Although Sangam-era people lived with various social structures, they experienced a life marked by contradictions with the people and society around them. Notably, these included the imposition of lifestyle practices against women. This research paper aims to highlight that the continuation of these practices even in the current computer-driven century signifies the enduring impact of those ancient times on the present day.
சங்க இலக்கியங்கள் தமிழ்ச்சமூகத்தின் வாழ்வியல் களஞ்சியம் என்று குறிப்பிடலாம். இவ்விலக்கியங்கள் மூலம் பண்டைய தமிழர்களின் வாழ்வியல், கலை, பண்பாடு, கலாச்சாரம், விழுமியங்கள் ஆகிய எல்லாவற்றையும் அறிந்து கொள்வதற்கு ஏதுவாக சங்க இலக்கியங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. சங்ககால மக்கள் பல்வேறு கட்டமைப்புகளோடு வாழ்ந்திருந்தாலும் சமூக மக்களோடும் சமுதாயத்தோடும் முரண்பட்ட வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்ந்துள்ளனர். அவற்றிலும் குறிப்பாக பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வாழ்வியல் நடைமுறைகளை புகுத்தியுள்ளனர். இந்த நடைமுறைகள் கணினிமயமான இந்நூற்றாண்டிலும் தொடர்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பது என்பது அன்றைய காலங்களின் தாக்கம் இன்றைய காலத்திலும் இருக்கின்றது என்பதை உணர்த்துவதே இக்கட்டுரையாகும்.
