A semantics approach on the words that convey the meaning wisdom

Abstract

The study of semantics helps to understand the diversity of words in conveying meaning. The principles of semantics have been defined focusing on the relationship between word and meaning. Many nouns that provide information about a single object are provided in the Tamil language. Although these words provide information about a single object, it can be seen that there is a subtle difference between them. In this way, this article aims to examine many words that provide the meaning of knowledge. Various words that provide the meaning of knowledge are used in Tamil language literature and usage. This article aims to examine how words with this meaning are used in Thirukkural in particular and what is the subtle difference between them. In the Thirukkural, the words "madhi otpam pulam arivu" are used to give the meaning of "knowledge". Generally, "knowledge" is a stable beneficial power that is not subject to flowering and cones, which is used to know the truth in a subtle way. The words pulam and "madhi" used in the Thirukkural can be seen to be given in two different levels, namely knowledge obtained through books and natural knowledge, respectively. "Otpam" provides the meaning of knowledge that is illuminated. "Otpam" can be taken as a step further level of "knowledge". The ability to act on the knowledge obtained, including the ability to make decisions, is related to the word "Otpam". Therefore, although the words "madhi", "otpam", "avivu", "pulam" are given as several words with the same meaning, they have subtle differences in meaning. 

சொற்பொருண்மையியல் ஆய்வு பொருள் உணர்த்துவதில்  பன்முகத்தன்மை கொண்ட சொற்களை நுட்பமாக அறிந்துகொள்ள உதவுகின்றது.  சொல்லுக்கும் பொருளுக்கும் இடையிலான தொடர்பினை மையமாகக் கொண்டு சொற்பொருண்மைக் கொள்கைகள் வரையறுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஒருபொருள் குறித்து வழங்கும் பல பெயர்ச்சொற்கள் தமிழ் மொழியில் வழங்குகின்றன. அச்சொற்கள் ஒருபொருள் குறித்து வழங்கினாலும் அவற்றிடையே நுட்பமான  வேறுபாடு காணப்படுவதை அறிமுடிகின்றத.  அவ்வகையில் அறிவுப் பொருள் தரும் பல சொற்களை ஆராயும் நோக்கில் இக்கட்டுரை அமைகின்றது. அறிவு எனும் பொருள் தரும் பல்வேறுபட்ட சொற்கள் தமிழ் மொழி இலக்கியங்களிலும் வழக்கிலும் பயன்பட்டு வருகின்றன. குறிப்பாக திருக்குறளில் இப்பொருளுடைய சொற்கள் எவ்வாறு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன என்பதையும் அவற்றிடையேயான நுட்பமான வேறுபாடு என்ன என்பதையும் ஆராயும் நோக்கில் இக்கட்டுரை அமைகின்றது. திருக்குறளில் மதி ஒட்பம் புலம் அறிவு ஆகிய சொற்கள் அறிவு எனும் பொருள் தருவனவாக பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. பொதுவாக அறிவு என்பது நுட்பமாக உண்மையை அறிந்து கொள்ளும் மலர்தலும் கூம்பலும் இல்லாத நிலையான நன்மை பயக்கும் ஆற்றல் என்பது இவ்வரையறைகளின் வழி புலனாகின்றது. திருக்குறளில் ஆளப்பட்டுள்ள புலம் , மதி, ஆகிய சொற்கள் முறையே நூலினால் பெறும் அறிவு, இயற்கையான அறிவு என்ற இரு வேறுபட்ட நிலைகளில் வழங்குவதைக் காணலாம். ஒட்பம் என்பது ஒளிபொருந்திய அறிவு என்ற பொருளில் வழங்குகிறது. அறிவு என்பதற்கு ஒரு படி மேம்பட்ட நிலையாக ஒட்பம் என்பதைக்கொள்ள முடிகிறது. பெறப்பட்ட அறிவைக்கொண்டு செயலாற்றும் திறன் முடிவெடுக்கும் திறன் உள்ளிட்டவை ஒட்பம் என்ற சொல்லுடன் தொடர்புடையுது. எனவே மதி, ஒட்பம், அறிவு, புலம் ஆகிய சொற்கள்  ஒருபொருள் பல சொற்களாக வழங்கப்பட்டாலும் அவை நுண்ணிய பொருள் வேறுபாடு கொண்டுள்ளமை இதன் வழி புலப்படுகிறது.
