Abstract

Travelogue is one of the important literary genre inIndian literary Areana. It is a relatively recent genre in Indian literature, emerging in the second half of the nineteenth century. Travelogue is the outcome of the travel experience which is opposed to the imagined descriptions in fictional narratives. There is no single term that fully describes the complexities and diversity of travel writing. The vast majority of travelogues are written in prose. The majority of people identify travel writing with stories about strange places or characters. Though everything published in this format may be considered a voyage, it is not Travelogue. Aatruppadai, Yathirai, Selavu, Payanam, and Prayanam are examples of travel-themed literary terms that span the Sangam to modern eras in Tamil literature. One of the pioneers of contemporary Tamil travelogue is Maha Kavi Bharathi. who wrote the book Our Congress Yathra,(Eṅkaḷ kāṅkiras yāttirai). a comprehensive account of his Congress party meeting trips.. His other travel writings include Pāpanācam and My Erode Yathra (Eṉ īrōṭṭu yāttirai). The descriptive language and fictional language structure present in his travel writings are examined in this article. The main focus is the 'descriptive language' of Bharathiyar.
