Abstract

This article examines how ancient Tamil poets attempted to express human life and lived experiences by describing the actions of the elephant, a non-human living being, in the akam poems they composed. Furthermore, by portraying the heroine’s condition based on the elephant, her state is clearly communicated to the hero.

இக்கட்டுரைப் பழந்தமிழ்ப் புலவர்கள்  தாங்கள் புனைந்த அகப்பாடல்களில் அஃறிணை உயிராகிய யானையின் செயல்பாடுகளை விவரிப்பதன் மூலம் வாழ்க்கையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் முயற்சிகளை எவ்வாறு செய்தார்கள் என்பது ஆராயப்படுகின்றது. மேலும் இங்கு தலைவியின் நிலையை யானையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு விவரிப்பதன் மூலம் தலைவியின் நிலை தலைவனுக்குத் தெளிவுபடுத்தப்படுகின்றது.
