Customs Of Ancient Tamils From Today’s Perspective

Abstract

The lifestyle and customs of Ancient Tamils are intertwined. Through literature, Tolkappiyam inscriptions and archaeological discoveries, the Tamil lifestyle, food habits, social norms, clothing family organizations, cultural festivals and other customs are clearly visible. This study examines whether those traditional practices are being maintained and given importance in the contemporary urban environment

      The customes of Ancient times have gradually started to disappear in the name of civilization. The benefits of joint family life, thoughts on the decline in attention to natural food, the decline in interest in cultural clothes and traditional jewellery among the people, the decline in awareness of the rituals of festivals, etc. Are being affected by urbanization in the name of civilization, but today we see those rebirth in many places. The combination of antiquity and modernity help us to know our cultural identities again.

This essay examines the grammatical evidence that underpins ancient customs and practices and shows how thes are relevant to today’s young generation. It also attempts to reveal the value of mythology and it’s modern uses.

தொன்மக் காலத் தமிழர்களின் வாழ்வியல் பழக்க வழக்கங்களைச் சங்க இலக்கியங்கள், தொல்காப்பியம், கல்வெட்டுகள் மற்றும் தொல்லியல் கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் ஆகியவைகளின் மூலம் தமிழர் வாழ்வியல் முறை, உணவு பழக்க வழக்கங்கள், சமூக ஒழுக்கங்கள், ஆடை அலங்காரம், குடும்ப அமைப்புகள், கலாச்சார விழாக்கள் உள்ளிட்ட பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் வெளிப்படையாக காணப்படுகின்றன. இந்த ஆய்வின் மூலம் இக்கால நகர சூழ்நிலையில் அந்த மரபு முறைகளைத் தவிர்க்காமல் முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து நிலைநாட்டி கொண்டிருக்கின்றன என்பதை ஆராயப்படுகிறது.

பழங்காலத்தில் இருந்த பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் நாளடைவில் நாகரிகம் என்ற பெயரில் அழியத் தொடங்கியது. கூட்டுக் குடும்ப வாழ்வின் நன்மைகள், சிந்தனைகள், இயற்கை உணவுகளின் மீது கவனம் குறைதல், கலாச்சார ஆடைகள் மற்றும் பாரம்பரிய நகைகள் மீதான விருப்பங்கள் மக்களிடையே குறைந்து வருதல், திருவிழாக்களின் வழிபாட்டு முறைகளின் மீதான உணர்வு குறைதல் போன்றவை இன்று நாகரிகம் என்னும் பெயரில் நகரமயமாதலால் பாதிக்கப்படுகின்றது. இன்று பல இடங்களில் இவைகள் மீள்பிறப்பு பெறுவதைக் காண்கிறோம். தொன்மமும் நவீனமும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து நம் பண்பாட்டு அடையாளங்களை மீண்டும் நமக்கு அறிய உதவுகின்றது.

இந்த ஆய்வு தொன்மகால பழக்கவழக்கங்கள்,கலாச்சார பழக்கங்களை இலக்கிய இலக்கணச் சான்றுகள் மூலம் ஆராய்ந்து அவை எவ்வாறு இன்றைய இளம் சமூக தலைமுறையினருக்கு பொருந்தக்கூடியவை என்பதை காட்டுகிறது.மேலும் தொன்மத்தின் மதிப்பையும் அதன் நவீன பயன்பாட்டையும் வெளிக்கொணர  முயற்சிக்கிறது
