Abstract

Within the historical context of Tamil Nadu, particularly during the period of Monarchal rule, kings from notable dynasties such as the Cheras, Cholas, and Pandyas issued a diverse array of coins. These coins were crafted from a range of materials, including precious metals like gold, as well as copper and other alloys.

The historical significance of these coins cannot be overstated, as they serve as crucial artifacts that provide insights into the economic, cultural, and social practices of the time. However, these ancient coins are not commonly found, often emerging only in small quantities during archaeological excavations.

Once discovered, the preservation of these artifacts becomes paramount.
