Dr. A. Udayavani Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of Tamil, Sacred Heart Arts and Science College, Perani, Villupuram. IndiaA society's beliefs serve as powerful indicators of its deep-rooted cultural traditions, reflecting collective values, social needs, and historical continuity across generations. Historically, when early human communities encountered the mysterious operations of nature or untangible existential troubles, the mind constructed imaginative explanations to mitigate fear and instill order. Over time, these conceptual frameworks solidified into enduring cultural beliefs and social customs. While many ancient Tamil beliefs may appear irrational or unscientific through a modern lens, they remain deeply interwoven into the region's historical ethos, daily practices, and social fabric. Examining these traditions reveals how early intellectual adaptations continue to shape cultural identity, offering valuable insights into the psychological and sociological evolution of Tamil civilization.

Dr. N. Aravindkumar Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, KPR College of Arts, Science and Research, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India IndiaThe emergence of virtuous actions that contribute to the upliftment of human life requires clear thinking and a selfless disposition. One of the primary factors that cultivates noble thoughts in the human mind is divine worship. Through devotion to God, individuals attain mental peace and develop positive moral values. With the objective of emphasizing that the outcomes of human life are determined by one’s actions, various religions have formulated philosophical doctrines. In this context, Saivism, which worships Lord Siva, is founded upon the philosophical system known as Saiva Siddhanta. According to this doctrine, if a person leads a life of purity and moral discipline, they will ultimately attain moksha—the state of supreme bliss—by uniting with the Divine. Saiva Siddhanta also explains the paths through which this liberation can be attained. Based on the nature of one’s actions and spiritual maturity, an individual progresses through four distinct paths leading to liberation, namely Charya, Kriya, Yoga, and Jnana. Saiva Siddhanta asserts that for a soul to attain these four paths of liberation, it must remain rooted in ethical conduct and acquire spiritual refinement. These four paths of liberation articulated by Saiva Siddhanta are designed to elevate human life to a higher spiritual state. By structuring one’s life and actions in accordance with moral discipline, an individual can experience everlasting bliss. This fundamental principle is clearly understood through the concept of the fourfold path to liberation as propounded by Saiva Siddhanta.

India , Dr. S.Vaitheeswaran Research Guide & Supervisor, Associate Professor, PG & Research Department of Tamil, Kalaignar Karunanidhi Government Arts College, Tiruvannamalai - 606 603 IndiaTiruvannamalai district, located in the northern part of Tamil Nadu, is a landscape with an immense historical background both archaeologically and culturally. Specifically, Periyakolappadi village in Chengam Taluk falls under the ancient territory ruled by the Sangam-era chieftain Nannan Sei Nannan and serves as a literal storehouse of Pallava-era hero stones (Nadu-kal).
This research paper provides a detailed archaeological analysis of:
- The etymology of the name "Periyakolappadi."
- Geographical landmarks mentioned in the Sangam literary work Malaipadukadam.
- Hero stones dating back to the reigns of Pallava kings Mahendravarman, Eswaravarman, and Nandivarman.
- Unique local rock names characteristic of the region.
Furthermore, the study uses statistical data to explain the continuity of agriculture from the Sangam period to the present, as well as modern economic shifts like the impact of flower cultivation. Highlighting how natural resources and historical monuments are facing destruction due to commercial encroachment, this research emphasizes the urgent need for their preservation.
