Abstract

The rapid growth of globalization and digital technologies has opened up new possibilities for transforming cultural resources into economic assets. The "Creative Economy" is a new economic model that converts the intellectual capital of creative sectors—such as art, crafts, music, literature, design, and film—into economic value. The Tamil society, which possesses over two thousand years of literary, artistic, and craft traditions, holds a rare and rich source of resources for such a creative economy. Today, various cultural traditions, including Thanjavur paintings, Kanchipuram silk weaving, Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, Sangam literature, and folk arts, are moving toward new economic opportunities through digital marketing methods. This research paper analyzes how Tamil cultural traditions serve as the fundamental sources of the creative economy and the strategies used to take these traditions to the global market through digital channels like social media, e-commerce platforms, Geographical Indication (GI Tags), and content marketing. Furthermore, this article explores the global trade opportunities available through the diaspora Tamil community market, export promotion councils, and free trade agreements. Finally, policy recommendations are presented for developing Tamil cultural traditions into a sustainable and competitive creative economy.
