Indian religions can be broadly divided into two categories: those that accept the Vedas and establish their own ideas by making certain changes to them, and those that do not accept Vedic ideas and operate by establishing their own philosophy. Among these, Lokayata belongs to the second category. As far as the Lokayata religion is concerned, only what exists in the world is true, that is, only what can be seen with the eyes is true, and only what can be experienced through alcohol, women, and the six tastes is bliss. They adhere to the principle of "seeing is believing" and "embracing what you have." Thus, this article explores some of the basic principles of this religion and analyzes the principles of Lokayata in Sangam literature.
