Screening
Manuscripts are checked with similarity-detection software (plagiarism checker x). The maximum accepted overall similarity, excluding references and properly quoted material, is 15.
What counts as plagiarism
- Copying text, ideas or data without acknowledgement
- Translating another author’s work without citation
- Re-using one’s own published text without citation (self-plagiarism)
- Submitting work already published elsewhere
Action taken
Before publication, the manuscript is returned or rejected. After publication, the article is corrected or retracted following COPE guidance, and the authors’ institutions may be informed.
