Abstract

Mythological elements have remained embedded within Tamil literature from the Sangam era—which stands as the eternal soul of the language—to the contemporary age of Haiku, Senryu, and Limeraiku poetry. These mythical remnants, lingering like a precipitate, are essential to imbue our creative works with a sense of classical excellence. Much like how a network of roots supports shimmering flowers from beneath the soil, these epic essences are required to give modern creative works meaningful depth and substance. Just as salt is gathered by boiling seawater, the essence of this research lies in sifting through and consolidating the mythological stories buried deep within Sangam literature.
