The Current Position of Human Values from a Humanistic Perspective in a Modern Technological Environment

The rapid evolutionary growth of technology in the twenty-first century—particularly the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), social media, automation, and mobile communication devices—has deeply altered the foundation of human values. Although this digitalization offers humans borderless connectivity and productivity, it presents major challenges to fundamental values such as personal privacy, empathy, integrity, and social justice. This research paper comprehensively examines the crises faced by human values in a modern technological environment and their solutions from a humanistic perspective.
By comparing the ethical principles found in ancient Tamil literature—such as Thirukkural, Purananuru, and other literary works—with international philosophical frameworks like modern "Digital Humanism" and the "Vienna Manifesto," this article presents a new ethical paradigm. Furthermore, this study offers a detailed analysis of recent sociological statistical data regarding "Technoference" and "Phubbing" (phone snubbing) caused by mobile phones in spousal and family relationships. Finally, the paper recommends mindfulness-based approaches and value education as practical solutions to balance technology with humanity.
