Abstract

Ecology is a scientific study that includes the distribution of life and the scientific methods concerning the relationship between organisms and their natural environment. The wise people of the Sangam period lived a life integrated with nature. This activity had an impact on cultural ecologies. Thinais and their cultures are defined by uniquely identifying specific landscapes named after them, based on their associated characteristics such as climate, fauna, flora, food items, occupations, religious beliefs, and emotional tendencies specific to that region. Unshakeable beliefs held in family, community, occupation, festivals, worships, rituals, and social life, along with customs and practices based on those beliefs, constitute the general life beliefs of the people. Based on this, this article aims to examine the cultural ecology of the Neithal land people through 'Aazhi Soozh Ulagu', a novel by Jo. D. Cruz, focusing on the distinctive aspects of the Parathavar people's way of life as cultural norms.
