Culture is a vital concept for understanding the evolution of human society, encompassing knowledge, morality, lifestyles, and social relationships. Tamil culture is a rich system integrating language, literature, arts, and traditions, with hospitality and devotion as its core pillars. This study explores the various dimensions of culture as reflected in the hymns of the Azhwars. It specifically examines their deep linguistic devotion to the Tamil language, their contribution to musical traditions (Isai), and the documentation of ancient musical instruments like the Yaazh, Conch (Sangu), and Flute (Kuzhal) within their sacred verses. By analyzing these pasurams, the research highlights how the Azhwars bridged the divine with social and artistic traditions, ensuring the preservation of Tamil cultural identity through spiritual literature.
