Abstract

This study traces the evolution of Tamil literature from ancient Sangam poetry to modern genres like novels and short stories, highlighting the significant impact of translated works from neighboring Dravidian languages. Specifically, it focuses on the immensely popular Tamil translations of Malayalam author Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's short stories and novels, translated by Sukumaran and Kulachal Yusuf. Ultimately, the research aims to analyze the various literary techniques employed in Basheer's short stories, with a particular emphasis on how he crafts his titles, beginnings, narrative flow, and conclusions.
