A Psychological Approach and Research Forerunners in Tamil Dalit and Feminist Literatures

Abstract

This paper examines how feminist voices are formed and how their aesthetic, body politics, cultural, and anthropological dimensions are manifested in contemporary Tamil Dalit literature. Literary works such as novels, short stories, and poems by prominent writers like Imayam, Azhagiya Periyavan, Bama, and Sukirtharani reflect the growth of Dalit feminism in Tamil and the quest for social change. Through thematic and chronological reviews, these collections synthesize diverse perspectives on aesthetic insights, the politics of the body, education, professional identities, and social rejections. By articulating the lived experiences of Dalit women, these works record the counter-voices emerging from within. Through this, the paper elucidates the theoretical frameworks of Tamil Dalit feminist literature and its social and cultural impacts.
