Abstract

This article explores how the novel "Kovai Kazhudhaigal" (Mule Donkeys) by Imayam subtly documents the pains and oppressions faced by marginalized communities in society. This novel, significant in Dalit literature, extensively discusses the complexities of caste discrimination, economic exploitation, and social exclusion. This study focuses on the life struggles of Arogyam, the primary female protagonist in the novel. The professional rituals she encounters, the psychological and physical torments she endures, and the challenges of a woman-led household are examined. Through this, the study brings to light the identities and sufferings of Dalit people from a deep social perspective. This research offers new angles for understanding Dalit life and its literary representations.
