Abstract

The Kurinjipadi region, located in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, is renowned for its ancient history and unique handloom culture. This research paper provides a detailed analysis of the language usage of children living in this area, focusing on the regional dialects, phonological changes, and socio-cultural influences present in their daily conversations.

Specifically, the article analyzes the unique word formations, phonetic contractions, and the linguistic structure of folk/play songs found among children aged 4 to 12. Data collected through field study reveals the impact of family environment, occupational background, and modern media on the linguistic development of these children. Ultimately, this study establishes a strong foundation for creating a lexicon of regional children's vocabulary for the Kurinjipadi area.
