The lives of the people are also intertwined with their artistic works. The short stories of the writer C. M. Muthu can be classified as documents of the Tamil society. His stories are stories of a type that cannot be written without seeing the events happening before our eyes. He describes the original lifestyle of the villages, the customs and beliefs of the people, etc. Most of C. M. Muthu's short stories are written in a way that documents the lives of the people of the integrated Thanjavur district without being too down to earth. It is no exaggeration to say that the world he knew was the world in which he wrote his stories, leaving no room for images or imagination, and the words that really tremble. It is noteworthy that C. M. Muthu is one of the most important people like Jayakanthan S. Samudram, who gave Tamil life to the naturalistic literary perspective classified by Emil Solo.
