Considered to be the first of the Kalambaka literatures, Nandikalambagam was sung with Nandivarman III, the ruler of Thondai as the lead singer. It is a tradition that most of the songs that sing about Pataida Thalaivan are set in Pataan Thani. Nandivarman's attributes such as generosity, bravery, and kindness have been extensively discussed in the literature. Since Nandikalambagam is the first book in the genre of Kalambaka literature to appear in Tamil, it can be understood that this literature has also contributed to the emergence of other literatures. Various internal and external departments present in the literature are helpful in enhancing the literary taste. Through the Patan Thani songs featured in Nandikalambaka, we can learn about the merits of Nandivarman III and understand the structure of Patan Thani on the basis of genealogy.
