This article provides a detailed analysis of the perspective presented in the short story 'Kaamuvin Kathai' by Ku. Pa. Rajagopalan, a pioneering literary figure who contributed significantly to the development of modern Tamil literature, through the lens of Disability Studies. The article examines the scientific reasons for the protagonist's disability, as well as the character descriptions that align with traditional portrayals. Furthermore, it highlights the subtle documentation of the heightened sensory perceptions and inherent limitations characteristic of visually impaired individuals. It also explores the logical, philosophical perspective presented by the author—that blindness is not a deficiency. Additionally, by comparing the work with the writings of other authors with disabilities, such as R. Chudamani, the article evaluates the socio-psychological values faced by Tamil women with disabilities. Finally, it discusses the computational linguistics aspect of converting the story from its original 'Bamini' font encoding to Unicode.
