Abstract

This research explores the social perspectives depicted in the novels of Madhavikutty (Kamala Surayya). Breaking away from conventional literary norms, her works boldly address shifting social values, marital dynamics, and female autonomy. The analysis examines key thematic elements, including the breakdown of traditional family structures under economic strain and poverty, the true nature of love beyond societal constraints, and the complexities surrounding marriage and gender inequality. Furthermore, the study highlights how male dominance, social hypocrisy, and economic desperation force vulnerable women into exploitation. Through novels like Rukminikkoru Pavakkutty, Roshini, and Aatukattil, Madhavikutty portrays marginalized individuals, particularly women, with deep psychological realism and emotional empathy. Ultimately, her literary creations challenge rigid traditional morals, advocate for women's rights, and present a nuanced understating of human relationships and social justice.
