Abstract

The research article entitled “Science in Tamil Literature” focuses on identifying and bringing to light the sophisticated knowledge and scientific ideas embedded in Tamil literary works. Although ancient Tamils may not have explicitly used the term “science,” their literary texts reveal scientific thinking and systematic knowledge in various fields such as medicine, agriculture, astronomy, architecture, technology, and environmental understanding.

The study demonstrates that Tamil literary works should not be approached merely as products of imagination or poetry, but should also be examined from a scientific perspective to identify the knowledge and rational ideas underlying them. Such an approach helps reveal the rich scientific heritage and intellectual contributions of the Tamil people. The study further emphasizes that examining Tamil literature through a scientific lens can provide new insights into its diverse dimensions of knowledge and its relevance to the development of scientific thought.
