Objective: Since Siddha literature is predominantly written in poetic verse, it is essential to provide systematic prose commentaries (Pozhippurai) to facilitate future educational and medical research. This literary study preserves the traditional knowledge, medical essence, and cultural heritage of the text "Agathiyar Vaithiyam 108," making it accessible to modern readers.
Methodology: The study involved an intensive analysis of the original text to identify archaic and complex terminology. Using traditional lexicons (Nigandus) and existing medical data, the precise meanings of the verses were verified to establish a standardized commentary. Furthermore, consultations were held with experts in the fields of pharmacology and linguistics to ensure accuracy.
Results: Through this literary investigation, a total of 49 medical formulations were identified, consisting of 46 internal medicines and 3 external medicines. Implementing these findings will significantly enhance the standard of treatment within Siddha medicine.
Conclusion: This study serves as a vital bridge between ancient Siddha science and modern understanding. It highlights the depth of Siddha medical data for contemporary society and establishes a robust foundation for future scientific research.
