It is a profound scientific and natural truth that the Earth encompasses all living beings ranging from those with a single sense to those with six senses. All living beings, from one-sense to six-sense organisms, engage in reproduction to propagate their species. In one-sense organisms, flowering plants and creepers are classified as female, while those that do not flower are classified as male. This is the method by which all living beings are divided, and this division occurs among humans as well. However, apart from male and female, third-gender individuals also live and grow among us in this society. Those who are born as male and, at a certain stage, visualize themselves as female and transition completely into women are these third-gender individuals. Living in a society where they often cannot declare themselves solely as male or female, they are currently referred to as 'Thirunangai' (transgender) and are gaining a degree of social acceptance. The primary objective of this study is to examine the rituals followed by such transgender persons, their social structure, historical background, and contemporary legal rights.
