Abstract

A Study of Kongu Regional Novel Literature and the Social Impact of Water Scarcity Novel literature is a widely cherished genre that depicts human life and events—either real or imagined—in prose form. Over time, regional literature from the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu has evolved to realistically portray the living conditions, culture, traditional lifestyles, and characterization within its narratives.

This study focuses on analyzing the characters, setting, narrative style, and themes depicted by the author. Specifically, it explores how water—a fundamental necessity for all living beings—impacts human existence. The research highlights the harsh reality that poverty is not limited to food, but extends to water scarcity as well. Ultimately, this study aims to reveal how water shortage acts as a critical turning point in an individual's life, driving changes in daily activities and giving rise to pressing social issues like forced migration.
