Abstract

Tamil literature and grammar education have a long-standing tradition. By learning them, Tamil society has continued to follow and produce literary works in a refined manner to this day. Among these, this article is based on the significance that the literary records concerning the grammar and literary education systems that emerged during the Kalabhra and Pallava periods, identified as the period of ethical literature, and the ideas indicated by their commentarial interpretations, point to the causal terms in which “number” denotes grammar education and “letter” denotes literary education
