Choosing a journal is one of the most important decisions in publishing research. Here is what Tamilmanam – International Research Journal of Tamil Studies (e-ISSN 3049-0723, p-ISSN 3107-7781) offers, stated plainly so that you can compare it with other journals.
Peer review you can rely on
Every research article is reviewed double-blind by at least two independent reviewers, after an editorial check of scope and a similarity check. Most authors receive a first decision within one to two weeks. Editors do not handle papers by close colleagues, and their own papers are handled by another editor. Open access from day one
Articles are free to read and download as soon as they are published, under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Authors keep their copyright and may deposit the published version in any repository without embargo (Self-Archiving Policy).
A permanent identifier for every article
Each article receives a Crossref DOI (prefix 10.63300) and a permanent page, and appears in a monthly issue listed in the archive.
Read in Tamil, found in English
Articles may be written in Tamil or English. The title, abstract and keywords are always published in both languages, so that Tamil scholarship can be found by readers and databases worldwide.
Clear fees
There is no submission fee. After acceptance, the article processing charge is ₹1,000, which covers online publication, DOI registration and e-certificates for all authors. A printed copy is optional (₹500). Waivers can be requested. See Article Processing Charges.
Is Tamilmanam “UGC-CARE listed”?
In February 2025 the University Grants Commission discontinued the UGC-CARE list of journals, so no journal is “UGC-CARE listed” today. Instead, the UGC issued suggestive parameters that universities and colleges use to decide for themselves whether a peer-reviewed journal is suitable; the UGC itself no longer approves or endorses individual journals. Is it indexed?
We list only services where you can check the journal’s inclusion yourself on the Indexing page. We do not display impact factors or similar scores from unrecognised providers.
Who publishes it?
The journal is published by the Department of Library, Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College (Autonomous), Pollachi, which meets its running costs. The first issue appeared in October 2024. See the Editorial Board and Ownership and Funding.
