Abstract
This study examines at how Koolavanigar Seethalai Sathanar, the author of the epic poem Manimekalai, offers suggestions for cultural transformation while deconstructing the dominant beliefs and customs (meta-narratives) of the society at the time. One of the important reforms in storytelling is that the majority of the narrative is supported by female characters. Sathanar's Manimekalai can be interpreted as a work that challenges the prevailing societal ideologies of the time and encourages cultural change by addressing hunger relief, encouraging love for all living things, and alleviating real-life suffering.
