Abstract

The short stories of Ilasai Aruna serve not only as reflections of social realities but also as a vibrant medium exploring the multifaceted dimensions of human communication. This research paper, titled "The Short Stories of Ilasai Aruna and Communication: A Socio-Media Perspective," investigates how human existential struggles intersect with communication theories. It highlights how literary magazines like Semmalar, Vaanmathi, Sumai, and Kanchi functioned as vital communication media to disseminate the author's works across Tamil Nadu, alongside the critical prologues written by eminent literary figures including Sahitya Akademi awardees. The study examines love letters, non-verbal cues, visual imageries, traditional and modern communication tools such as conch-blowing (sangu) and telegrams, establishing communication as a vital narrative tool in the author's socio-cultural framework.
