Abstract

Education has changed with every change in human life, and since the invention of electricity and the computer it has come to depend heavily on technology. This article explains the need for educational technology, which simplifies learning and teaching and empowers learners and teachers alike. Drawing on a first-hand experience of an artificial-intelligence application that wrongly attributed and explained a Tamil poem, it shows the danger of accepting AI-generated information without verification. It assesses social media as a double-edged sword, setting its addictive effects against its value for learning. The article concludes that digitising Tamil literature and developing Tamil-language applications are essential, and that educators must learn technological tools themselves and teach students how to use technology correctly.
