Abstract
This chapter analyzes the implied meaning (Kurippuporul) found in the songs of the Neythal Thinai (coastal landscape/genre).
Those structured as the foster-mother's friend speaking explain the hero's love for the heroine, the fact that he will not pursue other women, and that he will marry her. It also explains the bold decisions, doubts, and clarity of the heroine when marriage is delayed, along with details regarding the speaker, the listener, and the subject matter. The research chapter is structured to explain the heroine's ignorance, the hero's unfaithful conduct, the heroine's affliction of pining (pasalai), the greatness of the hero's country, and the virtuous character traits of the heroine.
