Why publish your research with Tamilmanam
Choosing where to send a manuscript is a decision about readers, speed and rights. Here is what authors get when they respond to this call for papers:
- Open to everyone. Every article is published open access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, so scholars, students and the Tamil community can read and cite it without a paywall. You keep the copyright. Read the open access statement.
- A permanent identifier. Published articles receive a Crossref DOI, which makes citation and tracking straightforward.
- Monthly publication. The journal publishes every month, so accepted work does not wait long for an issue.
- Fair, double-blind review. Author and reviewer identities are hidden from each other. See the peer review process.
- Write in the language of your research. Submit in Tamil or English, with the title, abstract and keywords in both languages.
- No deadline. Manuscripts are accepted all year, so you can submit when your paper is ready rather than when a window opens.
- Track your paper. Use the article tracker to see where your submission stands.
- Fees only after acceptance. Nothing is charged to submit or to be reviewed. Any publication charge applies only once a paper is accepted; the article processing charges page has the current details.

From time to time the journal announces a themed special issue with its own deadline and charges. The most recent public call, now closed, was:

Read the full special issue call and see past special issues. Charges for a special issue are set in its own call, so check the call before you submit.
Who can submit, and what we expect
The guidelines set no eligibility criteria beyond the requirements below, and the journal says it wants to help young researchers and teachers publish their work to recognised standards. The author guidelines set out these requirements:
- Original work. The manuscript must be original, unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere, and every author must agree to the submission.
- Similarity check. As a guide, papers with a similarity index above 15% in Plagiarism Checker X are returned. Read the plagiarism policy.
- Seminar papers. A seminar paper can be submitted if it has not been published in full in proceedings or elsewhere. Tell the editor about the earlier presentation.
- No double publication. The same work cannot be published once in Tamil and again in English. You may cite and build on an earlier version.
- Consent and permissions. Fieldwork, interviews and surveys need informed consent, and images or manuscripts held by others need permission. See the research ethics and consent policy.

How to submit your manuscript: step by step
- Read the guidelines. Start with the author guidelines and the before-submission checklist.
- Prepare the main manuscript (.docx). Include an introduction, numbered body sections and a conclusion. Give the title, abstract and keywords in Tamil and English.
- Anonymise it for double-blind review. Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements and self-identifying references, and clear the author name from the file properties. Refer to your own earlier work in the third person.
- Prepare a separate title page. It is not sent to reviewers. Include the titles in both languages, author names, designations, affiliations, ORCID iDs and the corresponding author’s email.
- Add your declarations. Cover funding, conflicts of interest, author contributions for co-authored papers, consent for fieldwork or interviews, and any use of AI tools.
- Submit online. Use the Submit Manuscript form and note your Article ID. Older Tamil fonts such as Bamini or TSCII are converted by the form, so check the preview.
- Track the review. Use the article tracker with your Article ID and email address.
- After acceptance. The corresponding author signs the copyright and licence agreement online from the tracking page, and any publication charge is paid from there. See the copyright and licensing page.
If you need to withdraw a manuscript before review begins, write to the editor. After review has started, withdrawal needs a written reason and the editor’s approval. The article withdrawal policy has the details.
Peer review and publication ethics
Every research article goes through double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know who the authors are, and authors do not know who the reviewers are. The peer review process page describes five stages.
- Initial check. The editorial office checks scope, formatting and similarity against published work. Out-of-scope manuscripts, or those with unacceptable overlap, are returned.
- Review. The handling editor sends the anonymised manuscript to at least two independent reviewers.
- Decision. The editor accepts, asks for minor or major revision, or rejects. Reviewer comments reach authors anonymously.
- Revision. Revised manuscripts may go back to the same reviewers.
- Production. Accepted articles are copy-edited, typeset and published online with their received, accepted and published dates.
The typical time to a first decision is one to two weeks.
Ethics you can rely on
Reviewers and editors must declare conflicts of interest and step aside when they cannot judge a paper impartially. Manuscripts by editors or board members are handled by a different editor, and the author has no access to the review. The journal follows its published publication ethics and malpractice statement and plagiarism policy, and you can meet the editorial board on the site.
