நாவல் இலக்கியத்தின் பரிணாம வளர்ச்சியில் வட்டார நாவல் என்ற பிரிவு மிக முக்கியமான இடத்தை வகிக்கின்றது. குறிப்பிட்ட ஒரு நிலப்பரப்பில் வாழும் மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையை அவர்களின் தனித்துவமான மொழிநடையுடன் அப்படியே பிரதிபலிப்பது வட்டார இலக்கியத்தின் தனிச்சிறப்பாகும். ம.காமுத்துரையின் கலவை நாவலானது மதுரை மாவட்டத்தில் இருந்து பிரிந்த தென் மாவட்டமான தேனி வட்டார மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் சூழலைப் பல்வேறு பரிமாணங்களில் பதிவு செய்யும் படைப்பாக அமைகிறது. குறிப்பாக வட்டார மக்களின் பேச்சுமொழி, சொலவடைகள், பழமொழிகள், நம்பிக்கைகள், சடங்குகள், தொழில் சார்ந்த நடைமுறைகள், பழக்கவழக்கங்கள் புழங்குபொருட்கள் போன்றவை நாவலின் கதைப்போக்குடன் இயல்பாக இணைந்துள்ளன. இவ்வாறான வட்டார வழக்காறுகளில் அந்த மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் மற்றும் பண்பாடுகள் வெளிப்படுகின்றன. கலவை நாவலில் இடம்பெறும் வட்டார வழக்காறுகளையும் அவற்றின் வழியாகப் பதிவாகும் பண்பாட்டுக் கூறுகளையும் இக்கட்டுரை ஆராய்கிறது.

Abstract · English

The regional novel occupies an important place in the evolutionary development of Tamil novel literature. One of the distinctive features of regional literature is its ability to reflect the life of the people inhabiting a particular geographical region through their unique dialect and linguistic style. M. Kamuthurai’s novel Kalavai portrays the socio-cultural and lived experiences of the people of the Theni region, which was separated from Madurai district, through various dimensions. In particular, the dialect of the regional people, idiomatic expressions, proverbs, beliefs, rituals, occupational practices, customs, traditions, and objects of everyday use are naturally integrated into the narrative of the novel. Such regional expressions reveal the lifestyle, cultural practices, social relationships, and beliefs of the people. Therefore, this paper examines the regional expressions found in M. Kamuthurai’s Kalavai and analyses the cultural elements represented through them.
