Tamilmanam – International Research Journal of Tamil Studies (தமிழ்மணம் – சர்வதேச தமிழ் ஆய்விதழ்) is a monthly, open-access journal published by the Department of Library, Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College (Autonomous), Pollachi. This page sets out what the journal publishes, how papers are reviewed and what authors should know before submitting.
What we publish
Research articles, review articles, short communications, textual studies and critical editions, translations with a critical introduction, and book reviews on Tamil language, grammar and linguistics; classical and modern Tamil literature; literary criticism and comparative literature; Tamil history, culture, religion, folklore and arts; and science, technology and computing in Tamil. Papers may be written in Tamil or English. See Aims and Scope.
How papers are reviewed
After an editorial check of scope, format and similarity, each research article is sent to at least two independent reviewers under double-blind review. Reviewers recommend; the editors decide. Most authors receive a first decision within one to two weeks of submission. Details: Peer Review Process.

Indexing and metrics
Tamilmanam is not indexed in Scopus or Web of Science. The services where inclusion can be checked are listed on the Indexing page. The journal does not display impact factors or similar scores from unrecognised providers.
UGC-CARE
In February 2025 the University Grants Commission discontinued the UGC-CARE list of journals, so no journal is “UGC-CARE listed” today. Instead, the UGC issued suggestive parameters that universities and colleges use to decide for themselves whether a peer-reviewed journal is suitable; the UGC itself no longer approves or endorses individual journals. How Tamilmanam answers each parameter is set out on the UGC parameters page. Check your own institution’s current rules before you submit.
Fees
Submission and review are free. An article processing charge of ₹1,000 is asked for only after acceptance; it covers online publication, DOI registration and e-certificates for all authors. A printed copy is optional (₹500), and waivers can be requested. See Article Processing Charges.
How to submit
Prepare your paper using the Author Guidelines and submit it on the Submit Manuscript page. You will receive an article ID and can follow the paper on the Track Article page.
