Astrology is the ancient science of predicting human destiny based on the celestial positions of luminaries and planets. In the context of human life, marriage is considered a sacred union—not just between two souls, but between two families. Traditionally, astrological compatibility for marriage emphasizes the Dasa Porutham (ten matches), Mars Dosha (Sevvai Dosham), Rahu-Ketu Dosha, and Kalathra Dosha. However, we frequently observe cases where marriages fail despite high compatibility scores, while others thrive even with minimal traditional matches.
To address these contradictions, this research utilizes Ashtakavarga, a specialized branch of astrology that provides a more nuanced numerical strength analysis. While the Rasi chart provides a general overview, the Sarvashtakavarga determines the true strength of a house (Bhava) based on the number of Bindus (benefic points) it receives. Specifically, the 7th House, which governs marital bliss, plays a pivotal role. This study is based on 50 case studies of individuals who have undergone divorce. The paper provides a detailed analysis of how deficiencies in Ashtakavarga points, particularly the disparity in Bindus between the 6th and 7th Houses, impact marital stability and lead to domestic discord.
