The short story collection Oru Vanadevathaiyum Rendu Ponvandukalum holds a significant place in modern Tamil literature, especially within the tradition of Karisal literature. From the pioneering works of writers such as Ku. Alagirisamy and Ki. Rajanarayanan, many authors have portrayed the everyday lives, culture, and experiences of the people living in the Karisal region. However, S. Kamaraj's writings differ from this broader tradition in their strong focus on the lives of oppressed and marginalized communities. Through his stories, he brings to light their struggles, aspirations, and social realities, offering a perspective that is often overlooked. This distinctive approach gives S. Kamaraj a unique place among Karisal writers. By analyzing the short story collection Oru Vanadevathaiyum Rendu Ponvandukalum, this paper highlights the author's contribution to Karisal literature and examines how his portrayal of oppressed communities enriches and expands the scope of the genre.
